SeveredDuck36 update log 1

Redesign
After feedback from the original announcement, I have made some changes to the design of the board, version 1.0 has been created.
Changes made from v0 include:
- Reducing empty space around MCU resulting in the width of the board being reduced by 10mm.
- Added support for JST battery connectors and power switches for wireless builds.
- Rotary Encoder footprints have been modified to support both standard EC11 and roller encoders in either position - see the configuration options here.
- Moved SeveredDuck logo to a more visible location on the PCB (no longer covered by the switch plate).
- Reduced the complexity of the feather silkscreen on the switch plate and bottom plate so that it is easier to manufacture.
As well as these design changes, I have created a gallery of renders and pictures that you can find here.
State of the groupbuy
I have also created a poll to gather the popularity of the different regions so I can better choose which vendors will offer the keyboard.
If you are thinking about buying the keyboard, please respond to the poll which you can find here.
I may not be able to offer the keyboard in every region because this is a relatively small project and I don’t want to over-complicate things by providing the board in too many regions where there won’t be many orders.
Next steps
Groupbuy
Once I have chosen the regions to offer the board and finalised the details with the vendors, we will then commence the groupbuy process. There will no doubt be a big announcement here and in 40’s discord when the groupbuy starts.
Development
QMK
I have only created the QMK firmware for my personal use so far. I just need to polish it up and then I will submit a request for it to be added to the main QMK repository.
ZMK
I will next be working on creating the ZMK shield for the keyboard. This will allow you to make wireless builds using nice!nano’s. I’ve never worked with ZMK before but I don’t see it being too difficult as the keyboard is designed in a very similar fashion to other split-keybaords like the Corne or Kyria.
Thanks for reading this update log, I’ll see you in the next one! - CyanDuck
